Why SportsNow Was Founded
Founder Jelan Ong developed his first booking systems while studying at ETH Zurich. That was when he realised how much administrative work good software can simplify.
A few years later, friends, family members and acquaintances who ran their own studios and schools were looking for a suitable solution for bookings and member management. It became clear: there was a real gap in the Swiss market.
In 2013, this led to the idea for SportsNow. At Startup Weekend Zurich, this idea won first place – and became the starting point for what SportsNow is today.
Our History
After Startup Weekend, the first pilot customers and initial partner associations joined us. At the same time, the idea gradually developed into a company.
The early days were challenging. As an unknown provider without major references, it was difficult to gain the trust of studios.
Over time, it became clear that SportsNow was especially valued by studios that were open to new solutions and wanted to develop the software further together with us. At the same time, we communicated openly when SportsNow was not yet the right solution for a particular situation. Some prospects actually came back to us years later.
SportsNow thus developed step by step – without shortcuts, but together with our customers and with a focus on long-term relationships.
