Bella (Isabella) Starrowsky

Mit vier brachte Bellas Mutter sie in eine russische Ballettschule. Kurze Zeit später hört sie jedoch damit auf und tanzt nur noch für sich selber. Britney Spears weckte dann ihre Tanzleidenschaft wieder. Zehn Jahre später ist Bella (26) trotz der Zweifel ihres Umfelds Profitänzerin und kann ganz gut von ihrem Job leben. Als nächsten Schritt plant sie, nach Amerika zu ziehen. Bellas Ziel: Auf den grössten Bühnen der Welt, vielleicht sogar beim Superbowl, zu tanzen.

Elizabeth Nirman has been recognized with several awards in international dance competitions. She was a finalist at the prestigious Tanzolymp in 2020, showcasing her high-level artistry and technical skill. Earlier achievements include securing 1st place in the Classical Category at the Israel Dance Competition in 2019 and 1st place in the Modern Category at the Red Sea Dance Competition in 2017. These awards highlight her versatility across both classical and modern dance styles, as well as her ability to stand out in competitive settings.
Her dance education reflects rigorous training in classical ballet, particularly rooted in the Vaganova method. She studied at the Jerusalem Ballet School (2018) and Noor Ballet Fuette School in Estonia (2016), before continuing at the Ballet School of the Opera House in Zurich (2023). Alongside her formal education, she completed a specialized course at the Vaganova Ballet Academy (2023) in classical ballet teaching methodology, equipping her with strong pedagogical skills. These experiences have given her a well-rounded foundation in both performance and teaching, combining technical mastery with structured methodology.
Her teaching career is extensive and international. Most recently, she has been teaching ballet and modern at Tilt Dance Studio in Biel and Viva Move in Gossau, leading classes for children and adults at all levels, preparing them for competitions, RAD exams, and stage performances. She also taught at Dance Fuzion in Zurich and earlier at the North Ballet School (2018–2021), where she instructed students across ages and levels, directed rehearsals, and supported exam preparation. Her teaching emphasizes technique, flexibility, artistic expression, and confidence-building, while her inclusive and student-focused approach fosters creativity and progress in every dancer.

Was als Empfehlung der Kinderärztin begann, um ihre körperliche Fehlstellung zu korrigieren, wurde zu ihrem Beruf: Laila tanzt Ballett seitdem sie vier Jahre alt ist und lies sich später als Bühnentänzerin und Tanzpädagogin ausbilden. Sie studierte klassischen und modernen Tanz an der Schweizerischen Ballettberufsschule in Zürich (heute Tanz Akademie Zürich), an der Palucca Hochschule für Tanz in Dresden und an der École Atelier Rudra Béjart in Lausanne. Ihr erstes Festengagement führte sie als Solistin ans Theater Basel. Weitere folgten beim Polish Dance Theatre in Poznan, Metronom Theater in Oberhausen, Sorbischen National-Ensemble in Bautzen und am Theater der Parkaue – Junges Staatstheater Berlin. Seit 2000 ist sie als freiberufliche Tänzerin tätig. Sie tanzte und performte in zahlreichen Tanzkompanien, Tanz – und Theaterfestivals in Europa, Amerika und Asien und arbeitete u.a. mit Choreographen wie: Maurice Béjart, Brigitta Luisa Merki, Joachim Schlömer, VA Wölfl, Rodolpho Leoni, Sabine Seume, Trisha Brown, Renate Graziadei und Jérome Bel. 2011 absolvierte Laila an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ihr Studium in der Tanzpädagogik und unterrichtet seitdem im In- und Ausland. Ein besonderes Herzensanliegen ist ihr, neben dem anatomisch gesunden erlernen der Tanztechniken, das freisetzen der eigenen Kreativität.

What began as a paediatrist`s recommendation to correct her posture became her profession: Laila has been dancing ballet since she was four years old, later on receiving an education as a stage dancer and dance pedagogue. She studied classical and modern dance at the Schweizerische Ballettberufsschule in Zurich (today Zurich Dance Academy), at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden and at the École-Atelier Rudra Béjart in Lausanne. Her first engagement led her as a soloist to the Theater Basel. Followed by the Polish Dance Theatre, Stage Metronom Theater Oberhausen, Sorbisches National-Ensemble Bautzen and the Theater an der Parkaue – Junges Staatstheater Berlin. Since 2000 she has been working as a freelance dancer in different dance companies. She performed in Europe, America and Asia at various dance festivals and theatre festivals and has worked with choreographers such as: Maurice Béjart, Brigitta Luisa Merki, Joachim Schlömer, VA Wölfl, Rodolpho Leoni, Sabine Seume, Trisha Brown, Renate Graziadei and Jérôme Bel among others. 2011 Laila studied Dance Pedagogy for artistic dance from Zurich University of the Arts and teaches since then in Switzerland and abroad.
A special concern to her is the transmission of dance in an anatomically healthy way and unleashing creativity of the younger generation.
